Underwater ROV explores volcano

Oceanographers from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts have discovered a deep-sea volcano at a depth of more than 1200m in the Pacific Ocean close to Fiji.

In what looks like a very dangerous mission for the remotely operated vehicle robot Jason, the volcano can be seen explosively erupting molten lava in a high definition video recorded during its mission. The video not only marks the deepest underwater volcano eruption ever documented, it was also one of the hottest ever recorded on our planet.
