The past year in robotics has seen advances across the board, but a few developments are particularly memorable.
2010 was the year of the humanoids, with new robots like Turkey's SURALP, Microsoft's receptionist robot or NASA's Robonaut2. Others included CMU's Walking Robot "Ranger", the Nao Humanoid, Ishiguro's female android, French company RoboSoft's care robot, or Robotic Teaching Assistants in South Korea.
Other impressive developments were made in telepresence and autonomous cars, with no less than six companies now offering for sale, and Google's announcement of their secret fleet of autonomous Toyota Priuses.
Finally, 2010 was also a great year for prosthetics, spear-headed by Berkeley Bionics announcement of their eLEGS and followed by exciting new developments in artificial feet and arms.
