Envisioning Robots with Eyes of a Fly

Envisioning Robots with Eyes of a Fly

Our friends over at http://robots.net have just posted on a Fiberoptic vision sensors developed by the Naval Air Warfare Center and the University of Wyoming: http://robots.net/article/2534.html. The 1-mm-diameter ball lens focuses light onto an array of photodetectors, with a 70% field of view overlap (still less than the fly's with up to 90%).

Seems optic flow is moving fast these days ;)
