Sponge-bath delivering robot

In other news, researchers at the healthcare Robotics Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology have built a health service robot to sponge-bath patients. The robot uses cameras and lasers to evaluate the patient's skin. It then uses two flexible robot arms with low levels of stiffness to wipe the patient's body using wet towels.

Relating his experience, the robot's first patient said:

"In the beginning I felt a bit tense, but never scared. As the experiment progressed, my trust in the robot grew and my tension waned. Throughout the experiment, I suffered little-to-no discomfort."
