Evolta to take on Le Mans

Evolta to take on Le Mans

In a bid to prove its advances in battery technology, electronics giant Panasonic will pit its small Evolta robot riding a tricycle against the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit in France on August 7th.

The Evolta robot and the battery of the same name already made headlines in May 2008 when the robot spent close to 7 hours climbing up a more than 500m rope hanging in the Grand Canyon, and the battery won an entry into the Guiness Book of World Records as the longest lasting AA alkaline battery cell.

And here is Evolta climbing the Grand Canyon (or part of it anyway):

... and Evolta did a good job (of course): She set another Guinness Book world record, this time for “The longest distance covered by a battery-operated remote-controlled model car“. 23.726 km (14.74 miles) to be exact – on 2 AA batteries mind you.

:D
