HealthBots project aims at helping retirees

Researchers at University of Auckland and Korea's Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute have introduced a robot as the latest member of a New Zealand retirement home.

The humanoid named Charlie is built by South Korean company Yujin and takes residents' vital signs, delivers personalized medication reminders, and helps make calls for assistance in case of accidents. Charlie is part of the three-year "HealthBots" project aimed at exploring seniors' attitudes toward robots.
